Here comes the big change and its happening on the Polygon Ecosystem. It has been long planned and anticipated, and now Polygon's mainnet upgrade is scheduled for September 4, 2024, transitioning its native token from MATIC to POL following community approval. 

Post-upgrade, POL will serve as the primary token for gas fees and staking. Ahead of this, a testnet migration was initiated on July 17 to ensure a smooth transition.
